Photo Story
I bit my lip really hard the other night. While watching the requisite game, the underdog team was losing, I broke thru the skin of my bottom lip eating some good shrimp fried rice. Since then I’ve been rubbing my tongue against the inside of my lip, wondering when it’s going to heal up. I’ve been wondering about myself. Grief has made me inscrutable.
I love mystery, I hate the feeling of being a stranger to myself. It probably doesn’t help that I spend (what feels like) every waking moment of my day looking at a damn screen. Tossing and turning with what to share, what not to share, what to look at, what not to look at, and wondering both how & why these rationales have taken up so much of my psychic space.
Ironically, this new terrain of emotional unfamiliarity has me biting my proverbial lip. So that’s pretty much why I haven’t posted here. Overlapping from my lil hiatus from sharing on SS, I also took a break from sharing on IG. I went cold turkey from the sharing app, and it reframed how I interacted with my phone, it’s apps, and the camera. I began to rely on different impulses rather than my compulsion to tell a legible online social media story of my days.
In some ways I feel like an idea broker to the Internet social machine - and it fucking pisses me off - because I know I’m getting the short end of the stick. How come being online has become so important to my imagination? I often wonder if I’m still interesting when I step away from actively engaging & contributing to this shared social fixation.
Anyways, in a quick game of catch up here’s some photos from October 2025 through June 2026, maybe the chronology will reveal something. I wonder what the story tells.
If you’re in Brooklyn, NY this weekend, join me at The Free Black Women’s Library, where I’ll be moderating a discussion with Dr. Marquis Bey about their latest book, Non Binary Life: An Auto Theory. I’m very excited to chat with Dr. Bey about this text. Thanks to Ola Uhura for making the connection!

Sending lots of love during this difficult time.❤️Thank you for such a lovely scroll of your camera roll over the past few months
Sending love to your grief ❤️.
Glad you’re taking breaks.
I spent three days without wifi recently and my answer is I need to be in these spaces more often.
